Sports Minister -Alieu E.K Jammeh is expected to preside at the opening ceremony of the 2012 Youth Summer Camp set for August 25th 2012 at the Friendship Hotel Bakau.
The event is part of efforts to attain Excellence in Youth and Sports Development through mass participation and leadership training through the “Catching Them While Young Initiative”, according to the organizers.
It is also meant to create a platform for children and youths to develop their skills and potentials to the fullest.
The Directorate of Youth and Sports and the satellite institutions of the Ministry, said the Summer Youth and Sports Camp will target a hundred (100) children between the ages of 10 to 15 years from all the regions in the country.
Other child partner institutions such as Child Fund (Gambia) will take part in the event with a view to developing and nurturing their skills and talents in religion, culture, health and sports development related issues.
