Marakissa's U-17 FC have emerged champions of the Marakissa Junior league after their 2-1 win over Erase Foundation Academy FC to clinch the cup.

The league was organised by Marakissa youth and sports committee and sponsored by Erase Foundation.

Both sides put up spectacular performances in the first 10 minutes of the game, which took place on Wednesday, and launched series of assaults on each other's defence and goal mouth.

The U-17 FC opened the score in the 13th minute of the game through Alieu Jammeh from the penalty spot after Erase Foundation Academy FC defender Ebrima Sarjo handled the ball inside the 18-yard box.

Erase Foundation Academy however came close to level the score-line when their striker Ebrima Jarjue was brought down inside the 18-yard box in the 20th minute of the game, which resulted in a penalty but Edrissa Colley missed it and U-17 FC went to a break with 1-0 advantage.

Upon resumption of the second half, U-17 FC continued their supremacy over opponents Erase Foundation Academy and Muhammed Colley sealed the victory in the 68th minute of the game after capitalising on the defensive blunders of the Academy boys to make it 2-0 for U-17 FC, dashing Erase Foundation Academy's hopes of coming back to their feet.

Erase Foundation Academy's consolation was netted by substitute Saikou Baldeh in the 78th minute of the game.

Speaking on behalf of the Alkalo of Marakissa village, Kalilu Colley applauded Erase Foundation and the National Assembly member for Kombo Central, Abode Jarjue, for their contribution towards the development of sports, especially football, in Kombo Central.

The manager of Erase Foundation Academy, Dawda Colley, hailed Erase Foundation delegation led by Aniya Simpson for their support to the league. He also thanked Marakissa villagers for answering to his invitation.
