Manager arraigned for allegedly stealing credit union money

A man called Modou Lamin Conteh was recently arraigned before Magistrate Janneh of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court, charged with stealing by clerk or servant.

Conteh denied any wrongdoing and was granted court bail of D105,000 with a Gambian surety who must deposit an ID card.

Hearing was adjourned until 1 February 2016.

The charge sheet presented before the court stated that the accused, Modou Lamin Conteh, between January and April 2015, at Bakau and diverse places, in the Kanifing Municipality, by virtue of his position as manager of United Nations Local Credit Union Staff (UNLSECU) The Gambia, stole D103,100, being monies from the savings of members.
