Man in court for escaping from lawful custody

A man called Ebrima Cham was Monday brought before Magistrate S. Sanneh of the Brikama Magistrates’ Court, charged with two counts of escaping from lawful custody, housebreaking and stealing.

The charge sheet on count one stated that the accused, Ebrima Cham, on 8 May 2014, at Tanji, Kombo South, entered into the house of one Foday Marong with intent to commit felony, therein wit stealing.

Count two stated that the accused person broke into the house of the said Foday Marong and stole one pedal bicycle valued at D1,800, two HTC mobile phones valued at D14,000, two pairs of shoes, valued at D800, one MP3 player valued at D300, two caps valued at D300 and one travelling bag valued at D800, total value D17,700 being the property of Foday Marong.

Count three stated that the accused on 16 May 2014, at Tujereng Police Station, being in lawful custody, escaped from such lawful custody, thereby committed an offence.

He denied the charges and the case was adjourned till 2 September 2014.
