One Amadou Jah of Brikama was recently convicted and sentenced by magistrate M.L.K. Bojang of the Brikama Magistrates' Court to a fine of D3, 500, in default to serve two months in imprison for discharging waste water into public gutters.
According to the facts as narrated by the NEA prosecutor, Muhammed Jabang, it happened on 13th May 2010, at Brikama when the National Environment Agency, were on an inspection. He said during the exercise they entered into the compound of the accused and found drainage on the roadside, from which waste from his compound passes through.
Subsequently, he said the accused was charged with the offence committed.
In a plea of mitigation, the convict begged the court to temper justice with mercy, saying that he is a family man with a wife and children.
