A man
called Sambou Fanneh of Brikama was Wednesday convicted and sentenced by
Principal Magistrate Dayo Small of the Brikama Magistrates’ Court to a fine of
D500 in default to serve 6 months in prison with hard labour for impersonation.
According to the facts as narrated by the police prosecutor, it happened on 21 June 2014, at the Banjul International Airport when Norlin Airline was about to travel to Barcelona.
The accused, Sambou Fanneh, arrived at the profiling desk and presented a Gambian passport No PC 357258 and the Spanish residential card No 16872948 bearing the name Fanneh.
Upon receiving the document, the profiling officer check the document in which he identified the accused person as not the owner of the document as the photo on the said document was not the accused’s photo.
The accused was then arrested and handed over to the taxforce office where he was interrogated and he confessed the said document belonged to his brother, Amadou Fanneh.
