The Brikama Magistrates’ Court recently convicted and sentenced one Siyaka Fofana to a fine of D10,000 in default to serve three years in prison with hard labour for breaking into a building and stealing.
Delivering his judgement, the trial magistrate stated that the convicted person was arraigned before the court in October 2011 and charged with two counts of theft and two counts of breaking into a building, but he denied the charges.
The prosecution called five witnesses, he said, adding that the convicted person also testified.
The trial magistrate further stated that the testimonies of the prosecution had convinced the court and that the convicted person himself admitted that some of the items were found in his possession.
He said the prosecution had proven their case beyond reasonable doubt.
He consequently convicted the accused person and sentenced him accordingly.
