Man arraigned for wilful damage to property

One Ismaila Bojang was recently arraigned before Magistrate Fatou Darboe of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court, charged with three counts of criminal trespass, wilful damage to property and assault causing actual bodily harm.

He denied the charges, and was granted court bail of D5,000 with a Gambian surety who must depose to an affidavit of means and deposit an ID card.

The charge sheet on count one read that on 7 October 2014, at Bakau in the Kanifing Municipality, he unlawfully entered the compound of one Sanna Cham with intent to insult, intimidate and cause annoyance to him and his family.

Count two indicated that he damaged a table and chair of unspecified value value, being the property of the said Sanna Cham.

Count three stated that he unlawfully assaulted Sanna Cham with a stone, broken bottle and pestle, causing him actual bodily harm on his right hand.

CPL 2717 Jallow represented the IGP.

The case was adjourned to 21 October 2014.
