Foday Jammeh, who was charged with assault causing
grievous bodily harm and willful damage to property, was on 19 April 2016
arraigned before Magistrate Blessed of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court.
The prosecuting officer, ASP Singhateh, presented a bill of indictment before the court which indicated that the accused, Foday Jammeh, willfully and unlawfully assaulted one Lamin Sanneh by stabbing him with a broken bottle on his back, causing grievous bodily harm, on 7 April 2016 at Lama Lama Bar at Bakau in the Kanifing Municipality.
Prosecutors further alleged that the accused, on the same day and place, willfully and unlawfully damaged a mobile phone marked I-phone, valued at D15,000, the property of Lamin Sanneh.
However, Foday Jammeh did not accept responsibility.
He was subsequently granted bail of D25,000 with a Gambian surety, who should swear to an affidavit of means and surrender an ID card to the registrar of the court.
