According to sources at the Judiciary, Senior Magistrate Abdoulie Mbackeh of the Bundung Magistrates’ Court had his contract with the Judiciary terminated with effect from 1 March 2011.
Veteran Magistrate Abdoulie Mbackeh has spent nearly 15 years with the country’s judiciary.
Over the period, Mbackeh served in different court houses until he retired, and was subsequently appointed as a magistrate on contract basis.
He served several years as magistrate at the Kanifing court before being redeployed to the Bundung Magistrates’ Court.
People close to him described Mbackeh as a down-to-earth man.
When contacted, Judicial Secretary Mr. Bedford confirmed the story.
“Yes, it is true Magistrate Abdoulie Mbackeh’s contract has been terminated with effect from 1 March 2011, he confirmed”.
Asked what led to this development, the Judicial Secretary said: “what I can tell you is that Magistrate Abdoulie Mbackeh got his contract terminated.”
