Latrikunda United have booked their place in the semifinal stage of the ongoing Serrekunda East Sports Development Organisation (SESDO) Knockout trophy after beating Cannon FC 4-1 on penalty shootout following a goalless draw on Monday at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium.
Speaking to reporters shortly after the game, Lamin Demba, Head Coach of Latrikunda United, said he is used to winning, noting that he is a winner and not always under pressure coaching or to face any team.
They always respect their opponents no matter who they face, he said, adding that they approach all games equally.
“We have to fight to win every game,” said Demba, who has also guided his team to the quarterfinals of the league competition where he is supposed to clash with Blue Stars FC.
By the grace of the Almighty God his side will enter both finals this year, he said, adding that he is amazed by the young talents he saw in this year’s Serrekunda East Nawetan.
He described this year’s Nawetan tourney as very competitive and interesting, while thanking all that are behind Latrikunda United.
Ebrima Bah, Cannon FC’s assistant coach, described the game as well-contested but added that his side were unfortunate to be knocked out of the competition on penalty kicks, in spite of their brilliant preparation for the encounter.
He however said he had taken the defeat in good faith, adding that he would continue to prepare for next year’s competition.
He described the organisation of this year’s Nawetan competition by the East Committee as fantastic and violence-free.
