GCCI rolls out business opportunity meetings

The Gambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) has outlined business and investment forums for economic operators in The Gambia, officials and representatives of the Gambia government, NGOs, CSOs and the general public.

In a press release sent to The Point yesterday, the GCCI informs its valued members and esteemed partners, including the Gambia Government and development agencies, that it has planned series of significant meetings and forums to which they are all invited to participate in order to promote business and socio-economic development in The Gambia.

The forums, it states, include Private Sector Forum on Climate Change, Indonesian Business Forum and Business-to-Business Meetings, Turkey Trade and Business Promotion Mission, 2013 Marche Jula to be held in Farafenni, North Bank Region (NBR), and Polish-Gambian Investment Forum.

The GCCI kick-starts its programmes today at its Kerr Jula Secretariat in Bijilo with a sensitization meeting on climate change for members of the private sector, in collaboration with the Department of Water Resources, which is the Climate Change Convention Focal Point of The Gambia.

Private Sector Forum on Climate Change

The Department of Water Resources, in its capacity as the Climate Change Convention Focal Point of the Gambia has engaged the Private Sector, through the GCCI, on a sensitization meeting on climate change. The meeting will be held on Thursday 31st of October 2013 at Kerr Jula, GCCI Secretariat, Bijilo. Registration starts at 9:30am.

Indonesia Business Forum and Business-to-Business Meetings

The Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Indonesia, through the Indonesian Embassy in Dakar will conduct a trade mission through the organization of a Business Forum and One-on-One Business Meetings on the 1st of November 2013.

The main purpose of the mission is to enhance economic cooperation and develop partnerships between Indonesia and The Gambia.

The Indonesian Ministry of Trade will be accompanied by three Indonesian Companies, namely Promosia Indonesia – Home Décor / Furniture; Tiga Muslimah – Muslim Fashion, and PT Gajah Tunggal Tbk – Tyres

The Forum is scheduled for November 1, 2013 at the Kairaba Beach Hotel, registration starts at 9:30am.

Turkey Trade and Business Promotion Mission

Information has been received from the Kayseri Young Industrialists and Businessmen and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that H.E Ambassador Gibril S. Joof A will be leading a Trade Mission to The Gambia for further expansion of trade links between Turkey and The Gambia.

The GCCI and GIEPA are collaboratively working on a Business Forum and Business-to-Business Session between the 6th and 7th of November 2013.

The areas of business activity for the respective Business persons in the delegation are furniture, Plastics and Textiles.

2013 Marche Jula – Farafenni, North Bank Region (NBR)

The Gambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) is organizing its third edition of Marche Jula, an Agriculture Trade Fair, from the 5th – 15th of November 2013.

Marche Jula is organized with the primary objective of promoting MSMEs and to facilitate the bringing together of buyers and sellers. There will be participants from the ECOWAS region participating in the fair.

The theme for this third edition is “Building Partnerships in Agribusiness, Creating Possibilities for Food Security”.

Our aim is to create linkages between agriculture and economic operators, to promote access to meaningful business development opportunities that would result in viable enterprises.

The objectives of the mini-fair are to promote Agric-Trade Fair and showcase Plant and Animal produce of the Gambia; expose businesses in the Region; promote Self-employment; display available Skills; promote Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs); facilitate affordable prices on general commodities for Gambians; increase sales for businesses in the regions; complement Trade Fair Gambia (TFG); and create awareness about GCCI.

Polish-Gambian Investment Forum

GCCI received a letter from the Foreign Investments Services in Poland wishing to organize a Polish Gambian Investment Conference on Friday 29th of November 2013 and has identified the GCCI as a Strategic Partner in the organization of the conference.
