Libel case mentioned in court

The libel case involving one Kebba Cham was recently mentioned before Magistrate Ibrahim Kijera of the Bundung Magistrate Court.

Kebba Cham the accused denied the allegation.

According to the particulars of offence, the accused Kebba Cham, in 2006, at Sinchu Alhagie Village, Kombo North, West Coast Region, allegedly demanded a land on behalf of the President of the Republic of The Gambia, by using his name over the owner of a stretch of land belonging to 17 landowners, that the President intended to build a university on the said piece of land, which he knew to be false.

The accused was granted bail of D700,000, with two Gambian sureties who must have landed property within the Greater Banjul Area or within the West Coast Region, valued at D700,000.
