The prosecuting officer, Chief Inspector Touray, Wednesday withdrew the theft case involving Sakher Nasr, a Lebanese national, before Principal Magistrate Dayoh Small of the Brikama Magistrates’ Court.

When the case was called, prosecutor Touray told the court he was applying to withdraw the matter from the court because he was asked to do so.

The trial magistrate said since the prosecution was applying to withdraw the case, he would therefore grant the application and also strike out the case from the court.

The particulars of offence on count one stated that the accused, Shakher Nasr, on 15 February 2014, in Kanilai, stole 9,130 pieces of roofing tiles being the property of Kanilai Family Farm and thereby committed an offence.

Count two stated that on the same date and place, he gave false information to one Sarjo Badjie and Alieu Sowe that the President had asked him to remove the roofing tiles, information he knew to be false.
