Medina FC on Saturday 7th August 2010 defeated T.K. Snookers by 2-1 in the Serrekunda East Sports Development Organisation (SESDO) tournament held at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium in a keenly and well-contested encounter which kicked off at s5 pm.
Omar Ndong opened the score line for T.K. Snookers FC in the 7th minute of the game from a superb header.
Haruna Jabang neutralized the result for Medina FC in the 52nd minute from a brilliant free kick.
Just 32 seconds later, Nicolas Jatta sealed the victory from a wonderful strike.
T.K. Snookers FC were reduced to ten men in the 70th minute of the game, when skipper Yuba Manneh was shown a straight red card for a harsh challenge on Medina FC?s goalkeeper Sheikh Abraham.
Earlier on the same day, at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium, in the 3pm encounter, United Stars FC defeated Zurich FC by a goal to nil.
On the same day, at the Gambia Senior Secondary School in Banjul, Miami FC defeated Elminite FC by a goal to nil. Adama Cham scored the only goal of the game for Miami FC in the 80th minute of the game.
On Sunday 8th August 2010, KGH Sports Academy defeated Sanchaba United by 2-0 to lift the first edition of the Canarias Lamin School Tournament sponsored and organised by Pol Brau a Spanish national.
KGH Sports Academy goals were scored by Alieu Conateh and Sanna Kujabi in the 48th and 51st minutes of the game respectively.
Pol Brau, the sponsor and organiser of the tournament, said the reason for sponsoring the tournament was to contribute their quota in the development of sports in the country.
He also expressed delight with the organisation of the tournament, and thanked the people of Lamin village, and encouraged them to keep up the good work. He promises that they are planning to come back next year with a much bigger offer.
Mr. Brau also stated that when he returns to Barcelona he would try to talk to people and show them the pictures and videos on the condition of the field for them to provide an artificial grass pitch for the people of Lamin village.
The tournament brought together four teams in Lamin village namely, KGH Sports Academy, Sanchaba United, Sateba United and Wayeto FC.
KGH Sports Academy and Sanchaba United the winners and runners up both received original sets of Barcelona jerseys while the third and fourth place teams, Sateba United and Wayeto FC, received consolation prizes in the form of footballs and shorts.
Vidar FC on Saturday at the Bakau Mini stadium recorded a dramatic 10-9 penalty shoot out victory over Ron Mango to lift the Super Cup title.
The Bakau outfit whose outstanding performances saw them become the runners up in last year's league competition had a promising start to the game, but all their brilliant attacking options and some wonderful passes were not good enough to earn them any victory in regulation period.
Ron Mango on the other hand was many pundits' favourite to win the title, having won the accolade two years in succession. But two poor penalty kicks cost them the title, leading to their defeat to the disappointment of a number of spectators, including the team officials, despite the presence of experience players such as Musa Njie, Lamin Njie, Assan Jatta, among others.
The Bakau New Town outfit who became the winner of both the knock out and the league cup last season had a man (Omar Jammeh) sent off for a hefty tackle on Lamin Jammeh in Vida's defence.
Vidar walked away with a trophy and a cash prize of D5, 000 while Ron Mango the runners up collected D3, 000 as a consolation prize.
According to Masanneh Jammeh, the Secretary General of Bakau Zonal Sports Committee, the Super Cup final was sponsored by Seedy Kinteh, President of the Gambia Football Association, and he thanked him on behalf of his fellow committee members for his continuous support in the development and promotion of sports in Baku, and football in particular.
