West Coast Region side Lamin United have secured their first win in the 2011-12 Gambia Football Association (GFA) second division league.
They defeated debutant Starlight 2-1 in the Week 19 fixtures played at the Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium at the weekend.
Lamin United, who are currently struggling at the bottom of the second division league standings with 3 points and Starlight are occupying 2nd position from bottom with 8 points.
Both sides came into the game with the aim of collecting the maximum points and improve their positions on the league table as well as keeping their hopes of gaining promotion to the premier tier next season.
But it was Lamin United who were able to snatch the maximum points after scoring two solid goals to capture their first victory in the new season whilst Starlight managed to score one, which eventually proved to be a consolation goal for the Banjul-based club.
Lamin United are still struggling at the bottom of the league standing with 6 points in nine games, while Starlight are sitting second from bottom with 8 points in nine games.
