Kartong Community Football Academy U-13 team have emerged champions of Football Link
They enjoyed a famous 2-nil win over Gunjur Community Football Academy U-13 team at the Madina Salaam Football Field on Sunday.
The exciting and fascinating encounter saw both sides create numerous goal-scoring opportunities in each other’s goal-mouth in the early stage of the game.
As the game progressed, Kartong Community Football Academy U-13 team dominated possessions, which paid off well when striker Sanna Jammeh netted their opener from a superb strike in the 20th minute.
Gunjur Community Football Academy U-13 team fought back for an equaliser and created numerous goal-scoring opportunities but their efforts were not good enough to earn them an equaliser in the first period, resulting in a 1-nil score-line in the first half.
As action resumed in the second half, Gunjur Community Football Academy U-13 team made series of substitutions and continued to put heavy pressure on their opponents but again failed to capitalise on them.
Sanna Jammeh doubled Kartong’s lead in the 65th minute after he dribbled pass two Gunjur defenders before hammering home the decisive winner at the expense of their opponent in the weekend’s cracker.
As the champions, Kartong U-13 team went home with a trophy and medals, whilst Gunjur U-13 team receive medals as the runners.
They also went home with D1, 000 after they were named the most disciplined team of the tournament.
