Kaira Su Federation, an affiliate of ChildFund The Gambia, on Tuesday sensitised mothers and caregivers on child rights at Sanyang village, Kombo South.

The participants were drawn from the community of Sanyang and its environs.

Speaking on behalf of the Alkalo of Sanyany village, Lamin Jabang, board member of Kaira Su Federation, called on people to have mercy for one another and to be also helping each other.

Yusupha Jassey, a member of Sanyang Community Association under Kaira Su Federation, hailed the organisation for donating school bicycles to member associations.

Haruna Badjie, a representative from Department of Social Welfare, said it is the responsibility of parents to protect the rights of their child, not the government.

Kebba Cham, federation manager of Kaira Su, said the forum is to discuss ways and means to promote and protect the rights of children.

He called on parents to join hand with Kaira Su in the protection of the rights of children.

Kaira Su Federation comprises five villages: Sanyang, Tujereng, Tanji, Jambanjelly and Sifoe.
