The
Banjul Sports Committee has suspended and fined Jamesen FC and Macdonald United
for the rude behaviour of their supporters, players and officials during their
game on 19 August 2016.
Mustapha
Manneh, an official of Jemesen FC, has been slapped with a suspension for the
rest of the nawetan. Manneh is also fined D500.
The
committee added that he should not be involved in any activities of team during
their matches, noting that as an officer on the bench, he should have led by
example rather than attacking opponent players.
Maget
Jammeh, reserve goalkeeper of Macdonald United, has also been hit with the same
punishment for continuously insulting the referees and following them to their
dressing room after, their match against Jamesen FC on Friday 19 August 2016.
Teammate
Alieu Saine has also been suspended for the rest of the nawetan for attacking
and hitting an opponent player.
Both
Jamesen FC and Macdonald United are fined D1,000 for failing to control their
players, supporters and officers and for bringing the game into disrepute.
The
fine, according to the committee, is to be paid before the teams’ next matches;
failure to pay will result in the team not being allowed to play.
Finally,
both teams are warned of such gross indiscipline which, if repeated, will see
them being heavily punished.
Adoulie
Ndow, team manager, and Malick Sarr, assistant coach of Ajax, are both
suspended for 2 matches for being sent off the bench on Sunday 21 August during
their match against Juventus.
They
should not enter the dressing room, stand behind the bench, field the match
form or enter the football field during and after the match.
Article
17.1.3 states that, any team that wins the knock-out and happens to be
relegated the team shall be reinstated in the Nawetan proper.
