Dr Ceesay’s illustrious career as scholar, diplomat and international civil servant began with a teaching job at Arrmitage High School, Latri-Kunda Secondary School among others, before obtaining a scholarship to study in Saudi Arabia where he bagged his first degree.
His pursuit for higher education took him to the United Kingdom where read his doctorate.
Dr Ceesay served as regional director of Muslim World League based in Freetown before being appointed Ambassador to Saudi Arabia.
He resigned that post to work for the International Islamic Relief Organisation, again as Regional director based in Dakar, where he died Saturday.
Dr Ceesay’s death was received with great sadness among his friends and former colleagues who praised his kindness and philanthropic virtues.
He was buried in Senegal but prayers will be observed for him at his Kotu residence on Friday evening. He was 62.
