Jaliba Kuyateh Volleyball Club on Sunday beat Gambia College Volley Club at a final competition held at the Brikama Mini Stadium.
Jaliba VC opened the first set by leading their opponents 25 points to 22; in the second set by 25 to 21, but in the third set, Gambia College levelled the game through leading from the third set to the forth one by 25 to 21 and 25 to 17 respectively.
Later in the fifth set, Jaliba VC took up the lead again by 21 to 19 points thereby going home with the trophy.
At the end of the game, the winner went home with a consolation prize of D2,000 while the runners- up left with D1,500, followed by other certificates presented to various participants.
Speaking to Pointsport, the head coach of Jaliba VC expressed delight saying they were once defeated by their opponents during the tournament, adding that they were there to seek revenge in the final.
Having won the trophy for the first time, they would surely maintain the lead as they continue to play in the future.
He said he is confident his club is fit to compete in national competitions.
The head coach of Gambia College said they had a little misunderstanding in the setting and blocking from which the opponents capitalised on.
He, however, revealed that both teams did well but good fait was on the side of the opponents.
