Islam And The West

Jun 8, 2009, 6:56 AM

The relations between Islam and the West have been full of a chequered pattern because of extremism of forces that go beyond any policy of the existing states.

This and some other reasons resulted in tensions that have painted a gloomy picture about Islam in some parts of the world.

The September 11th attack, which had led to the death of thousands of innocent Americans, is a case in point.

No doubt this negative view about Islam hitherto triggered by so-called Muslims, who disguised themselves in the name of Islam had been responsible for this sickening situation.

While it's wrong to inflict terror on innocent people, it is also wrong to use the same 'rope of war' against innocent believers of a peace-loving religion, such as a major faith like Islam.

We, therefore, urge all and sundry to put an end to this cycle of mistrust and antagonism.

The Obama administration, which is busied trying to chart a new beginning with the Muslim world, must be encouraged to do so.

The world can be a better place to live in when we discard all stereotypes against Islam and other religious denominations.

The faith of millions of people is much stronger than the hatred of the minority.

This is the way forward for world peace.

"Nothing is so fatal to religion as indifference, which is, at least, half infidelity."
