IPO testifies in robbery trial

One detective Sultan Gibril Colley of Kanifing Estate Police Station Monday testified as a prosecution witness, in the ongoing criminal trial involving the state against two robbery suspects, Ousman Sonko and Omar Ceesay.

They were charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit a felony and robbery.

They were alleged to have conspired and robbed one Anna Mendy with violence the sum of D1,500, two mobile phones marked Nokia single Sim and a Samsung two Sim phone, a pair of shoes worth D775, and a Samsung charger, on 14 August 2014 at Westfield near Jokor in the Kanifing Municipality.

Testifying before the court, detective Colley told the court that during investigation of the alleged crime some items were recovered, and the cautionary statements of the accused were obtained.

The investigation took some days, and after recovering some of the items, the complainant, Anna Mendy, was called and she identified them.

The sum of D750.00 and Samsung mobile phone were recovered from the suspects.
