Following the long adjournment of the case involving Ousman Jatta, Amat Sowe, Momodou Mendy, Essa Jarjusey, Adama Beyai and Maimuna Bah, executive members of the Gambia Scout Association, Sergeant 3560 Colley on 27 October 2015 announced before Magistrate Kijera of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court that the prosecution would add more charges against the accused persons, who were charged with conspiracy, obtaining money by false pretence and stealing a motor vehicle.

Earlier, the prosecutor told the court that they did not receive the case file.

However, defence counsel Mboge and Singateh argued that if the prosecution was not ready to proceed with the case, it should release the accused persons.

They further stated that not to do so was a breach of the Criminal Procedure Code, adding that hearing the case had suffered many setbacks.

Sergeant 3560 Colley is now expected to present before the court the new charges preferred against the accused persons on 4 November 2015.

Prosecutors had alleged that the accused persons, within the year 2012 and 2014 at Bakoteh in the Kanifing Municipality, being executive members of Gambia Scout Association, conspired to collect over D700,000 from various non-scout members with the pretext to include them in trips to attend international jamborees in different parts of Europe.

The bill of indictment further stated that the accused persons, on the same date and place, obtained D700,000 from various non-scout members with the pretext to include them in trips to attend international jamborees in different parts of Europe.

It was also alleged by prosecutors that Essa Jarjusey in the year 2015, at Bakoteh in the Kanifing Municipality, while serving as assistant secretary general of the Gambia Scout Association, stole a motor vehicle of mark Toyota with registration number KM 1907A belonging to scout association.
