The defending champions of the 9th edition of the National Inter-departmental Sports Association football tournament (NISA), Immigration Department, got off to a superb start to defend their last year's crown with a narrow 1-0 win over Kombo Beach Hotel at the Serrekunda West Mini-Stadium on Friday.
The weekend's game, which marks the beginning of another exciting moment of NISA tournament, saw the reigning champions score the decisive goal of the game through striker James Sambou in the 26th minute.

Immigration continued to launch series of counterattacks in front of Kombo Beach Hotel's goal-mouth but failed in numerous attempts to break the deadlock.
Meanwhile, in the female category, Immigration Department Female team beat Gamtel/Gamcel Female side 1-0 to clinch the NISA Female Football tournament in a well-contested final played at the Serrekunda West Mini-Stadium on Friday.
As the champions, Immigration Female team went home with a trophy and a cash price of D6,000, whilst Gamtel/Gamcel received D3,000 as the runners-up.
In the same vein, No. 1 Sports Shop donated three footballs to NISA.
The donation, according to officials of N.1 Sports Shop, was part of their contribution towards the development of football in the country.
Other results in the NISA tournament played on Saturday saw Gambia Civil Aviation Authority entertain Sheraton Hotel to a 1-nil win whilst NAS beat Royal Victoria Teaching Hospital in the other day of the tournament by the same score-line.
Gampost and Gambega were also involved in a pulsating goalless draw in the other game of the championship.
