"I was not doing anything wrong, I did not steal the Government vehicle and I did not conspire with anyone to steal a vehicle." These were the words of Domenico Fedelish, an Italian national who is also the 3rd accused person in the ongoing Government theft case involving him, Lt. Bakary Camara and ex-Superintendent Manlafi Sanyang.

The trio are accused of conspiring to and stealing a motor vehicle, BJL 4063B Ssanyong Korando, which was the property of The Gambia government.

Continuing his testimony, Domenico Fedelish told the court that on 10th January 2008 he was called by Lt. Camara to proceed with the transfer of ownership of the Korando vehicle in question. "I went with my wife to State House to meet Lt. Camara who is the head of delegation of the Kanilai Family Farm," he stated. "At State House I was directed to the office of Manlafi Sanyang who wrote a letter which was typed and signed by Manlafi Sanyang."

"Manlafi Sanyang handed over the letter to a police officer and instructed the officer to accompany me to the licences and transfer section of The Gambia police force to make the necessary transfer," he revealed. "At the transfer section I met Officer Faburay who prepared the transfer certificate," he added, noting that after securing the transfer certificate he went to park the vehicle at home.

Senior Magistrate Kayode of the Banjul Magistrates court presided over the case.

The case was adjourned to 29th May for address.
