Real
de Banjul winger Foday Manneh has said he’s ready to compete with the club’s
more established stars for a place in Coach Momodou Lamin Sey’s team.
The
speedy forward was speaking to the press after scoring in Saturday’s 2-0 home
win over Serrekunda United at the Banjul Mini Stadium, which has sent Real de
Banjul to third place in the league table with six points after three-match
days.
Diminutive
youngster, Pa Modou Sohna fired the City Boys ahead with a thunderous
left-footed drive from distance when neatly played through by wing-back Ebrima
Sidibeh eleven minutes after the break.
Debutant
Foday Manneh made sure of the points with quarter of an hour remaining on the
clock, running through the heart of Serrekunda United’s defence before hitting
the back of the net.
“I
know there’s competition for places in the team but I am ready for the
challenge – Ebou Kanteh, Bully Drammeh, Dembo Darboe and Pa Modou Sohna are
also vying for a place in the team,” he said.
Foday,
who signed from Hawks FC in the close window, caught the eye during Real de
Banjul’s 50th golden jubilee tournament in November while playing for the
Serrekunda East zonal team.
“I
want to improve day in day out because it is very important to take my chance
and I am very happy to make my debut for Real de Banjul,” he said.
“More
pleasing for me is to score the second goal that guaranteed us the win over a
very solid Serrekunda United,” Manneh told reporters.
The
12-time champions will return to action this weekend when they take on newly
promoted Marimoo at the Banjul Mini Stadium on Sunday.
