A magistrate court in Bundung recently convicted and sentenced one Papa Lowe to a mandatory jail term of three years in prison for assaulting his wife with a cutlass.
Mr. Papa Lowe was found guilty on three counts of assault, criminal trespass and wilful damage to property.
In delivering his judgement, Magistrate Lamin George stated that after carefully reading the evidence of the prosecution witnesses and that of the convict, the court was convinced that the prosecution had proven their case beyond all reasonable doubt.
He then sentenced the convict, to three years in prison for count one; count two for one year in prison and count three for six months in prison. All the sentences were to run concurrently.
