Man arraigned for unlawfully entering the country

A man identified as one Ebrima Barry was recently arraigned at the Brikama Magistrates' Court before Magistrate J.A Effim, charged with two criminal offences.

According to the particulars of offence, on count one, sometime in the year 1983, the accused, Ebrima Barry entered The Gambia without a valid passport or permit and had stayed in The Gambia without paying his permit.

Count two, stated that on 14th May 2010 at around 9am, the accused, Ebrima Barry threatened to kill one Babou Barrow with a knife.

Meanwhile, the accused, who pleaded guilty to count one but denied count two, was subsequently granted a court bail in the sum of D10, 000, with a Gambian surety.
