This is a question that kept lingering in the minds of many Gambians at home and abroad. However, the Minister of Youth and Sport Hon. Sheriff Gomez has provided an answer for this question to clear the minds of the populace.
Answering the question raised by Hon. Pa Jallow, the NAM for Jarra Central as to how many Gambian professionals are currently playing outside The Gambia on a contract, the Youth and Sport Minister said based on the information received from the GFA, there are about 38 Gambian professionals.
Further answering Pa Jallow's question as to what plans are in hand in bringing these footballers back to play for our national team, Minister Gomez assured the National Assembly Members that most of the Gambian professional footballers are always invited to a training camp, prior to any international match. This, he said, allows the Head Coach to observe and assess their physical conditions before finally selecting them into the national team.
