HJK Helsinki have confirmed the signing of Gambian international pusher Demba Savage on a four year deal contract.

The 23-year-old was playing for rival club FC Honka where he joined since 2008. Savage has a record of 75 appearances for Honka since joining them in 2008. He has scored a total of 22 goals 15 of which were recorded last season.

On 7 February 2012 the reigning Finnish champions, HJK, announced that they had signed Savage along with team mate Rasmus Schüller.

“The clubs reached an agreement with Demba Savage and Rasmus Schuller transfers earlier this week. A personal player contract has been completed,” HJK has revealed on club’s website.

The hot and very dangerous pusher, as he is described on former club’s website fchonka, rose last season as one of the club’s largest home crowd favourite.

The former Gambia Ports Authority F.C. star who was the best goal scorer in the league with GPA F.C in the 2003/2004 season moved to Finland in 2006 after signing with Second division club KPV. He later established himself as a first team choice before moving on loan the Finnish Premier Division FC Honka where he later secured a permanent move.

Savage’s contract with Honka was expected to run out after 2013 season.

The Gambian international and Honka’s valuable player, who is set for a new season with HJK has tipped former club  Honka, HJK and Inter Turku as the top three favourites for the 2012 Finnish Veikkausliiga title.

HJK Helsinki, former club of Gambia international Dawda Bah who moved to Bundesliga side Augsburg last September, had a successful ending last season.

The forward signed a two-year deal with the team making his debut in Germany’s top flight.

The 27-year-old, who left HJK Helsinki, the Finnish club he joined in 2007, is currently nursing a knee injury he picked during a training session last year, after making his first appearance for the side.
