Marie Sanneh one of the accused persons continued her defence testimony yesterday, in the case involving Ibrahim Bun Sanneh, former NDEA Executive Director and four others, at the Special Criminal Court in Banjul.

The other accused persons are Karamo Bojang, former deputy Director of the NDEA, Ousman Sanneh, former operations commander of the agency, and Seedy Bojang, former agency accountant.

Marie Sanneh, the fourth accused person in the case, told the court that it was never true that she retrieved D140, 000 from Seedy Bojang.

Asked by her defence counsel whether she accepted, in her statement at the NIA, that she received D70,000 from Bun Sanneh, Marie Sanneh told the court that she made this admission in her statement written at the NIA, because she was seriously beaten, insulted and threatened, even though she was pregnant.

The witness added that she had never been involved in any drug case, and further denied that she had ever conspired with the other accused persons to steal the money of the state.

She also said she never obtained D10, 000, being money of the state, from one Kalipha Jatta.

The case continues on 22nd January 2012.
