Mr Halifa Sallah, Spokesperson of the Opposition National Alliance for Democracy and Development (NADD) has been arrested and at the time of going to press detained at the Yundum Police Station, Sam Sarr, childhood and close friend of Mr Sallah told this paper yesterday.
According to Sam Sarr, who is the editor of Foroyaa newspaper, Halifa went to Makumbaya village in the Kombo North district on Saturday and Jambur also in Kombo South yesterday Sunday to find out the experiences of people as to what they have been narrating to him with regards to the reported witchcraft hunting in the country. Shortly after his return, Mr Sarr added, Halifa was picked up from his house by the police and taken to Yundum Police Station.
When contacted yesterday, ASP Sulayman Secka, Spokesperson of the Gambia Police Force said, "I am not aware of Halifa Sallah's arrest".
