Gunjur Youth and Sports Development Association (GYSDA) has declared Alex Sanchaba FC as winners of the 2013-2014 Gunjur Summer biggest football fiesta Knockout title.
Alex Sanchaba FC were declared champs after Gamcel FC skipper Sainey Gibba attacked central referee Lamin Jammeh with insults and hit him on the chest after Buba Jabang pulled back one goal for Alex Sanchaba FC in a final match Gamcel FC were leading 2-1 with two minutes remaining.
The 2013-2014 Gunjur Knockout final game was being played at the Gunjur Nyamina Football Field on Friday.
According to the referee’s report, Gamcel FC’s captain Sainey Gibba attacked central referee Lamin Jammeh, insulted and hit him on his chest causing mass invasion of the field by spectators, as captain Gibba claimed that Alex Sanchaba FC midfielder Buba Jabang’s goal was an offside goal, with two minutes remaining.
Acting on article 9.1 of GYSDA’s rules and regulations which stated that if the referee is forced to stop the game before the end of the regular time due to the invasion of the field or aggression by the team supporters, that particular team shall be declared loser.
Alex Sanchaba FC are the champions of the 2013-2014 Gunjur Knockout title after Gamcel FC’s captain Sainey Gibba insulted and hit central referee Lamin Jammeh on his chest.
They will receive a giant trophy and cash prize of D9,000, while Gamcel FC will receive D6,000 as runners-up.
Alex Sanchaba FC will now clash with reigning league champions Steve Biko in the 2014-2015 Gunjur Summer biggest football festivity curtain raiser the Super Cup final to be played in the summer.
