Gunjur Utd tops West Coast Regional 3rd Division

Gunjur United on Saturday beat newly-promoted side M.L. Dertusa 6-2 in the week four fixtures played at the Gunjur Nyamina football field to top the 2014-2015 West Coast Regional third division league.

Gunjur came to the game with 7 points after snatching two victories with a draw in the three opening games, while M.L. Dertusa came to the game without a point after losing their opening game to Busumbala 2-0.

Dertusa came all-out for a win against Gunjur United to grabbed the vital three points to move away from the relegation zone. but were unable to secure the maximum points.

Gunjur United opened the scores through winger Ousman Bojang aka Mesut Ozil, in the 10th minute of the game to give his side the lead.

Moments later, Gunjur United found themselves 3-0 up in the 15th and 20th minutes of the game respectively, when winger Ousman Bojang netted the second and third goals to dash Dertusa’s hopes of coming back to their feet, to complete his hat-trick.

The visitors fought back for an equalizer and managed to pulled back two goals through Sainey Bah and Abdoulie Jallow in the 24th and 72nd minutes of the game, which eventually proved to be consolation goals for the Brikama-based outfit.

Captain Kansidia Touray aka Challa, combative Bakary S. Touray and substitute Zagaria Janneh netted the fourth, fifth and sixth goals in the 55th, 66th and 68th minutes of the game respectively, to snatch a convincing win over Dertusa.

Elsewhere, Brufut United thrashed Sanchaba Sulay Jobe 3-0 at the Brufut football field on the same day.
