Despite losing to Banjul 3-2 in a post-match penalty shootout the head coach of the Gunjur Zonal Team, Lamin Kaku Jabang, has commended his team for their spectacular performance against Banjul.

Coach Jabang made this remarks shortly after his side lost to Banjul in the first semi final of the 2008 Baby Muhammed Yahya Jammeh's Super Nawettan Championship.

He stated that his boys played brilliant football on Saturday and they created scoring opportunities but failed to capitalise on their opportunities.

He further stated that his side lack experience. "That was why we lost to Banjul," he said.

He expressed confidence that his side will be preparing for third Division qualifiers in the coming weeks.

"Everybody was impressed with the performance of my boys. It was just luck which was not on our side and so we lost to Banjul," Coach Jabang pointed out.

He also commended the fans and all those who contributed toward the success of the team and urged them to accept the defeat in good faith. He said that Gunjur will lift the zonal trophy in near future.

According to coach Jabang, Coach Tarik Siagy invited four of his players to The Gambia U-17 team for trials. He expressed optimism that his boys will pass their trials and wished them good luck.
