Gunjur FC have sailed to the final of the ongoing West Coast Region third division qualifiers as they came from one nil down to beat Black & White FC of Berending Village 2-1in the second semifinal clash played at the Sifoe Football Field on Tuesday.
The first twenty-five minutes of the game was dominated and controlled by Black &White, who created numerous goal-scoring opportunities and their efforts paid dividend in the 5th minute of the game when Ousman Saine netted their opener from the penalty spot after Gunjur’s defender handled the ball inside the eighteen-yard box to give his side the early lead.
Gunjur responded back for an equaliser and they created few goal-scoring opportunities which were denied by Black & White’s solid defence line, thus the first period ended 1-0 in favour of Black & White.
As actions resumed in the second period, Gunjur were trailing 1-0 in the first period but brought in several fresh legs that really paid dividend as they mounted heavy pressure on Black & White; as a result they levelled the score through winger wizard Bakary Sambou (alias Prince Kevin Boateng) in the 50th minute of the game from a long range strike to make it 1-1.
Bakary Daffeh (alias Kanu) netted the winner for Gunjur in the 55th minute of the game after capitalising on Black & White’s defensive blunders to seal the victory for Gunjur.
Gunjur will now clash with Sifoe FC in the final to be played at the Brikama Box Bar Mini-stadium.
