GTA director calls for more support ahead of Gambia Fashion Night Show

As international guests troupe down in Banjul, acting-Managing Director of the Gambia Tourism Authority Fatou Beyai has called for more support ahead of the Gambia Fashion Night Show slated for 17 December 2011 at the Sheraton five-star hotel in Brusubi.

The much-anticipated event, which has started attracting tourists from Europe and other parts of the world, is expected to boost the GTA with record number of over hundreds of tourists from Europe, the USA, the UK and Africa, who have already started arriving at the Banjul International Airport.

The Condor flight yesterday brought more tourists into The Gambia from Germany, Poland and other parts of the EU, ahead of the big event – The Gambia Fashion Night.

The day also witnessed the arrival of international model stars, designers, film and TV producers, and journalists from various international media in Europe, such as in Germany.

The tourist and the guests who arrived at the Banjul airport yesterday night were received and welcomed by Mrs Beyai and Fashion Night organizers Rebecca Riley-Bensouda, Joachim

Zielesch and many other dignitaries.

In an interview with this reporter shortly after the arrival  of tourists and guests at the Banjul International Airport, Mrs Beyai noted that the Gambia Fashion Night Show is a new development for The Gambia and the tourism industry in general and would able to beef up the country at the international arena.

The fashion night will create a linkage between The Gambia and other countries in the world as well as boost the country’s economic development through the tourist industry.

She further stated that the event is geared towards promoting tourism development and also to showcase what the Gambia has to offer to tourist as a tourist destination country.

The GTA boss added that her office is ever ready to support such event aimed at promoting tourism in the country and promoting the country at international arena for tourists to see what The Gambia has to offer.

Mrs Beyai added that her office is a key partner to this big and important event and are ready to give all the necessary support to ensure the event is successful.

“We will create the enabling environment for the guests and all participating stars and producers to perform effectively,” she noted.

She finally reiterated that the event is the first of its kind to be hosted in The Gambia and called on all Gambians to come out and support them as the event is also geared towards creating job opportunities for the participating Gambian models.

The list of personalities for the show includes Mr Mahoni, a Gambian actor based abroad with well over 70 movies to his compilation.

Mr and Mrs Bauer Rage, Poland-based fashion designer Ewaminge and many more artists, have arrived for the mega event.
