The Gambia Sports Foundation (GSF) a Gambian-Netherlands Charitable Trust, as part of their mandate in promoting grassroots Gambian football, Tuesday November 17, 2015 presented sporting gears to the PSV Gambia junior and senior team at a ceremony held at the Canaan Multipurpose Football Field in Brikama worth over D150, 000

Presenting the items to the two recipient clubs, Yankuba Vermeulen, the Manager of Gambia Sports Foundation, said it is part of their collective responsibility as aid organization to support grassroots Gambian young talents in sport.

“GSF is committed to the promotion of the welfare of the Gambian grassroots football talents,’’ he said.

According to him, donating to the two teams is indeed paramount as they are named after the Dutch Champions PSV, which are the first Gambian teams to be named after PSV under the operation of Gambia Sports Foundation, noting that his charity is very delighted with the way the two PSV teams are being managed under the supervision of administrator Alieu Darboe.

The GSF administrator appealed to the beneficiaries to properly and wisely utilize the donated items.

Alieu Darboe, the administrator of PSV Gambia Chapter, in receiving the items, hailed GSF through administrator Yankuba Vermeulen for their humanitarian gesture.

“We are indeed grateful to GAF because this is the second time in the space of a year, they are donating to the two teams with high quality materials,’’ he noted.

Darboe further tasked the beneficiaries to redouble their efforts at wining more competitions emphasizing that all what a team requires has been given to them by their donor, assuring them that more of such support would be provided to the teams since they are committed, dedicated, devoted and focused.

Lamin Fatty, head coach of the senior team, noted that the presentation of the items to the two was a clear indication that “GSF is a genuine and reliable partner, with members who are very ready to promote young Gambian talents”.

He called on the players to play their part towards the advancement of the teams, saying the Gambian administrator has been doing a lot for the two clubs.

Abubacarr Yafai Badjie, a Senior Officer and the kits manager, described the donation to the two teams as timely and historic, saying by looking at the sets of jerseys and other gears presented to the team, it can be seen that they are creditable.

Dembo Jarra and Ebrima Drammeh, skippers of the two teams, while delivering the vote of thanks thanked the GAF for their foresight and support to the teams and promised to put the items into good use.

The donated items included set of jerseys, six footballs, fifty six shocks, four referee shirts, twenty shirts for the team officials and other gears.
