Upper and Senior Secondary Schoolsin the Greater Banjul Area will today, 24 February 2012, converge at the country’s biggest football arena, the Independence Stadium, to hold their annual inter-school athletics heats.

This is part of preparations for the National Inter-school athletics championship final slated for next month.

In previous years Greater Banjul inter-school athletics heats used to attract large crowd of students and youths from Greater Banjul.

They would always come out in their numbers to cheer their respective schools and the championship show athletes would put up respectable performance during the course of the events.

Household names in the annual athletics championship, such as Saint Augustine’s Senior Secondary School, Gambia Senior Secondary School, Muslim Senior Secondary School and Nusrat Senior Secondary School, will face serious competition from other senior secondary schools for the title this year in the Senior Secondary Schools category.

In the Upper Basic Schools category, Latrikunda Upper Basic School, Saint Therese’s Upper Basic School and Sukuta Upper Basic School will be competed for the title but they will certainly face stiff competition from other upper basic schools for the title.
