GPA pip Steve Biko to refresh lead in GFF domestic division league

Gambia Ports Authority on Sunday beat Steve Biko 1-0 in the week-eight fixture played at the Banjul KG5 Mini Stadium to revive their lead in the 2015-2016 First-Eco Partners-sponsored Gambia Football Federation domestic division one league standings.

The ferry boys are four clear ahead of Bakau giant killers prior to their Sunday nail-biting clash in which they came all out to snatch the vital three points from Bakau to extend their lead in the summit and boost their ambitions alive.

The Bakau giant killers are just four points behind the ferry boys. They actually came for a win against GPA to close the gap to one point but could not snatch away the vital three points. Instead the Ferry boys finally carried the maximum points after Muhammed Kabba netted the only goal in the 66th minute of the game to let his side move six points clear of Samger, Wallidan and Brikama United in the league summit.

Serrekunda United drew goalless with Hawks at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium, while Samger drew 2-2 with Real De Banjul at the Serrekunda West Mini Stadium on the same day.

Gambia Ports Authority are still leading the race with 18 points in eight league matches played. Samger, Brikama United and Wallidan are 2nd, 3rd and 4th in the league with each having 12 points in eight league matches played.

Steve Biko are 5th in the league with 11 points in eight league matches played. Gamtel, Gambia Armed Forces and Real De Banjul are 6th, 7th and 8th in the league with each 10 points in eight league matches.

Banjul United 9th in the league with 7 points in eight league matches. Hawks and Bombada are struggling in the league with each having 6 points in eight league matches played.

Serrekunda United are occupying bottom place in the league with 4 points in eight league matches.
