As first round set to wrap-up

The Gambia Ports Authority’s spectacular start to the season is showing no sign of ending as manifested by their outstanding performances which saw them succeeding previous leaders Gamtel to climb at the top of the 12 club championship up to date.

They will go into their last game of the first round of the GFA First Division League Championship with a crucial league encounter against Sea view at the Independence Stadium on Saturday. Sea View suffered a narrow 1-nil lost to City rivals Steve Biko last weekend and they will face an uphill task of beating the mighty GPA side in this titanic clash.

The Ferry boys, headed by the former Gambia national U-20 team coach Peter Bonu Johson are currently enjoying a 3 points lead on top of the league table, with a total of 21 points to their names.

Former league leaders Gamtel, who spent sometime sitting on top of the table are the second place occupant with 18 points after losing their place to the GPA, a few weeks ago with only 3 points adrift of their successor.

A win for the Telecommunication boys will see them secure 21 points as they look set to play their last game of the first round when they face Interior, who currently sits in 6 position with 12 points.

Real De Banjul will meet Samger on Saturday at the Box Bar Mini-stadium in Brikama.

Third place occupant Steve Biko will rub shoulders with Brikama United in Brikama on Sunday, while other game on Sunday witness another exciting league clash when Wallidan face Bakau United, at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.
