The Father Gough Foundation recently handed over basket and volleyballs to the Minister of Interior and NGO Affairs, at a ceremony held at the office of the Minister of Interior. The Minister of Interior Ousman Sonko commended the foundation for a job well-done.
Hon Sonko who seized the opportunity to dilate on the efforts he was doing over the past years to promote sports in his ministry, such as the setting up of an Interior Male and Female teams.
According to him, the teams were excelling in their various areas, noting the remarkable success the Interior female side made in a recent tournament held in Ziguinchorr in the Southern Senegalese region of Cassamance.
He called on others to emulate the foundation in its contribution towards the realisation of Vision 2020 objectives.
Alh Buba Sagnia, Acting Director General of the Gambia Immigration Department said the gesture will help in promoting sports within the ministry.
Bai Malleh Wadda, in presenting the items, spoke on the role the foundation is playing in national development, such as rehabilitation of Manneh Sillah Memorial Lawn and Manjai Kunda Lawn, Scholarship to students, among others.
He hailed the efforts of the Minister of Interior Ousman Sonko, in his efforts to promote sports within his ministry.
