Members of the general public have been urged to lodge complaints to the Professional Standard Unit of the Immigration Department against any immigration officer they feel has offended them.
The information was revealed by The Gambia Immigration Department Public Relations Officer ASI Ensa Jawara at his office in Banjul.
"This unit was established since 2007," PRO Jawara said, noting that the main reason for setting it up is to investigate complaints lodged against immigration officers before coming up with a decision.
Meanwhile, anybody who has complaints against any immigration officer can contact the public relations office on the following numbers: 6528018, 9038017 or 3579908.
The immigration spokesperson says the unit, which is fully operational now, is open to the public.
"If the public feel that they are not treated well, let them come forward and any matter that comes before the unit will be handled professionally," he said.
