The festival is set for Sunday 5 June 2016 in Farafenni, North Bank Region.
The press briefing was held at the Gambia Football Federation Secretariat in Kanifing Layout.
In his opening remarks, Alagie Ebrima Nyassi, Gambia Football Federation grassroots coordinator, said the event is set to be held in Farafenni, adding that 2016 is the third edition of the event meant to promote women football.
Nyassi said the event was supposed to hold in Lower River Region but it was shifted to Farafenni due to current construction work at the Soma Mini Stadium.
He further noted that GFF, in collaboration with Women Football Association, embarked on tour in Farafenni ahead of the event.
“This is the first time the event will be staged in North Bank Region,” he said.
Nyassi said the event is targeting girls of 6 to 12 years of age, adding that 240 people are set to participate in the event, with 190 participants from the host Farafenni.
Nyassi said further that Lower River Region, Central River Region, Upper River Region and Basse SOS Children Village “are all expected to bring in ten participants each” for the third edition of the event.
For her part, Sainabou Cham of GFF said the role of the GFF is also to promote women football in The Gambia.
She hailed the media for promoting Gambia sport, especially football.
