GFF boss consoles Brazil on aircraft accident

Following the news of the tragic plane crash that involved the Brazilian team Associação Chapecoense de Futebol, on their travel to Medellin for the Copa Sudamericana, Gambia Football Federation president Lamin Kabba Bajo has expressed his shock and condolences at the tragic accident that occurred recently. 

Mr Bajo said: “This accident is really a sad happening for world football and I must register on behalf of the Gambia Football Federation and The Gambia as a country my heartfelt condolences to the families of the dead and the Brazilian people in general for this difficult moment and event.”

President Bajo felt “so sorry for his counterpart” in Brazil and prayed for the departed souls to rest in peace.

“I also want to further extend our condolences to the Brazilian media community for the great loss they have suffered,” he said.

The aircraft is reported to have been carrying 72 passengers and nine crew members that also included the Brazilian team’s delegation and members of the media.
