The Gambia Ports Authority have succeeded in maintaining their place at the summit of the table as the first round of yet another Division One league competition wrapped up over the weekend.

Coach Bonu Johnson and his men have proven to be the strongest team in the 12-Club Championship, as they remain unbeaten in nine consecutive league matches, securing 24 points in the process.

Since they overcame previous leaders Gamtel at the top of the table, the ferry boys are no doubt the most impressive team in the first round as demonstrated by their outstanding performances which saw them edging pass some big teams like Samger, Bakau United, mighty Wallidan, Real De Banjul Hawks and Sea View, respectively in their previous league matches.

Despite a few draws, the ferry boys headed by the former The Gambia's U-20 team boss suffered the only defeat in the league 10 weeks ago after they conceded a narrow 1-nil loss to fellow title contenders Gamtel at the Serrekunda West Mini-stadium. And if their recent magnificent first round performance is anything to go by, the capital club could continue to produce some positive results in a bid to claim the title they won a few years ago.
