GCAA
were on Saturday crowned National Inter-Departmental Sports Association
football tournament after beating daily observer 4-3 on post-match penalty
shootout, after the regulation time ended stalemate in a final game played at Serekunda
East mini stadium.
Sang
Gomez opened the scores for GCAA in the 32nd minute of the game after
capitalizing on Bubacarr Sonko’s low cross to fire home the opener that gave
his side the lead.
Daily
Observer responded back and levelled the scores through substitute Biram Gaye,
after the interval, to cancel Sang Gomez’s 32nd-minute strike to make it 1-all.
Both
teams finished the game with ten men, a situation that pushed the game into
penalties, which ended 4-3 in favour of GCCA.
The
winners, GCAA, received a giant trophy and cash prize of D10,000, whilst Daily
Observer received D8,000 as runners-up.
