The Management of Gamtel and Gamcel yesterday asked members of the Public Accounts/ Public Enterprises Committees of the National Assembly for more time, up to January 2012, to make what it called a comprehensive and professional presentation of their audited accounts and financial statement for the year ended 31st December 2010.
The appeal comes after the board and management of Gamtel and Gamcel appeared before the committees to present their audited accounts and financial statement for scrutiny.
Baboucarr Sanyang, Managing Director of Gamtel, told members of the committee that more time will allow his management to present a more comprehensive report.
Majority leader and member for Serrekunda East, Hon. Fabakary Tombong Jatta, in response said members of the committees recognize the inherent difficulties faced by Gamtel-Gamcel in getting the financial accounts of the institutions ready, especially on the issue of Spectrum Company.
“Gamtel-Gamcel are big institutions and it is our concern to look into their accounts and, hopefully, come January 2012, there would be no more excuses from them,” he said.
Hon. Netty Baldeh and Abba Sanyang, member for Tumana and Foni Kansala respectively expressed similar sentiments.
