FA Cup Champions Gamtel yesterday defeated visiting Malian FA cup champions AS Real De Bamako 1-0 in the first leg of the second round of the CAF Confederation Cup played at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.
The tightly contested game was not easy road to cross as both sides put stunning performances in the game and launched series of goal scoring opportunities in front of each other’s goal mouth.
However, the first half failed to produce any goal.
On resumption of the game, host Gamtel made several substitutions and mounted heavy pressure on AS Real De Bamako’s defence line and created several goal scoring opportunities.
Their efforts paid dividend in stoppage time when left-back Dodou Suso netted the opener, which eventually proved to be the winner for Gamtel.
The visitors fought back for an equalizer but could not break through Gamtel’s formidable defence line.
The game ended 1-0 in favour of Gamtel at the expense of their Malian counter parts, who will in a fourth night time host Gamtel in Bamako.
